What 🯥 means

It fills one quarter of a character cell, low and centered.

A character cell is one slot in a text grid.

A 2021 proposal aimed to preserve forms for data conversion and emulators; it says vendors often did not name glyphs, so Unicode labels describe their shapes. The home-computer set reaches from the mid-1970s to mid-1980s.

Why is 🯥 blank in my terminal?

Your font or emulator may not draw it.

As of September 2026, some terminals draw missing legacy glyphs themselves; others rely on the font.

Why does 🯥 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
