What means
It filled one tile in a text drawing. The Robotron Z9001 graphics chart maps it to character E6, the computer’s own character code, not a Unicode value. The home computer appeared in the German Democratic Republic in 1984 and was later known as the KC85/1. Programs combined cells into rough pictures, or quasi-graphics.
Unicode had preserved computer and terminal block graphics by 1991. This addition lets old text conversions and emulators keep the Robotron tile.

Questions people ask
1Why does show as a box on some devices?
It is recent: Unicode added it in version 16.0 (2024), and phones and computers whose fonts are older than that have nothing to draw it with. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
