Lower Half Vertical Line With Three Tick Marks

526/686

𜸓 is a drawing character from an HP terminal line set: the lower section of a vertical stroke crossed by three short ticks. The set let terminals build simple graphics and data-entry forms; this was one small piece of that toolkit.

What 𜸓 means

It was one drawing element in HP's line set.

The 1978 HP 2645A Display Station manual describes its optional Line Drawing Set as limited graphics for simple drawings and data-entry forms; it shows a form assembled from the set. Unicode's proposal for legacy computer characters maps this exact glyph to position 35 in HP's set, preserving the older terminal drawing character.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 𜸓 look different in my font?

It can: Unicode 16.0's code chart says reference glyph shapes are not prescriptive, so fonts may draw the stroke and ticks differently.
