vertical line with three tick marks

Vertical Line With Three Tick Marks

𜸕 is a vertical stroke with three ticks from Hewlett-Packard's HP 264x terminal graphics, where it helped draw tables and forms. Unicode preserves this exact piece of the old line set for text exchange and terminal emulation.

What 𜸕 means

It supplied one stroke for screen layouts on HP terminals. The HP 264x line set was a built-in group of pieces for drawing tables and forms.

The first HP 264x terminal, the HP 2640A, arrived in 1974. Unicode's source table maps this design to byte 2F in HP's Line set, carrying the old shape into modern text exchange and terminal emulation.

Why does 𜸕 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
