Lower Left Quadrant Chess Pawn

209/686

𜳐 is one corner of a chess-pawn picture, not a whole pawn. Sharp MZ home computers combined it with three screen tiles; use or for a complete pawn in ordinary text.

Text symbol

What 𜳐 means

It is one tile in a four-part pawn picture. This tile came from an extra screen-symbol table on European Sharp MZ home computers, called the alternate display set. Four corner characters were meant to sit in a 22 screen grid to draw each chess piece; Unicode later preserved these old screen images as separate text characters.

Does 𜳐 show a white or black pawn?

No. The Sharp MZ source character table used these chess graphics for either side; this single tile carries no color of its own.
