What 🟋 means
A decorative six-pointed star with no fixed chat meaning.
🟋 is a typographic star, not a symbol with one fixed message in ordinary chat. Its documented typeface lineage begins with Lucida Icons, Arrows, and Stars, designed in 1990 and 1991; the family was reorganized and released as Microsoft Wingdings in 1992. In Wingdings 2, this form was named hexstar3.
These fonts supplied icons for personal-computer interfaces; their stars also served as bullets, asterisks, and ornaments. In a heading or list, 🟋 can mark decoration. Alone in a message, it does not say exactly what the sender means.
How do I type 🟋?
Use Unicode hex input if your app supports it.
As of 2026, Microsoft Word's documented route is to type 1F7CB and press AltX. If text follows the code, select just those six characters first.
An old Wingdings keyboard shortcut depends on that font. Unicode hex input identifies the character independently, but the destination font still draws it.
Why does 🟋 look different?
The font draws the outline, so the shape can vary.
A font with a different star design may make 🟋 look heavier or narrower; a font without support may show a blank or replacement glyph. That changes the display, not the character's identity.
Decorative and typographic; by itself, it is not a reliable reaction.
Six points can suggest a religious symbol; add words when that distinction matters.

1Why does 🟋 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
