What ◗ means
Its black half is a shape, not an instruction. In a diagram, a legend assigns it a role; in a message, the surrounding words do.
Fonts can change ◗’s curve; without font or fallback support, it may show as a missing-character box.

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
