What 𜰫 means

In Word for Microsoft 365 (verified 2026), type 1CC2B and press Alt+X.

The selected font also needs a glyph for it. On a Sharp MZ home computer, FB selected this pattern in the display table; it was not a Unicode input code.

What does 𜰫 do in old graphics?

It is a tile for building coarse pictures from text cells. Think of each screen position as a tiny four-part canvas. This one fills the upper-left, upper-right, and lower-right parts; neighboring tiles can form larger block drawings.

Teletext, a service that broadcast pages of text and simple graphics to televisions, was developed in the UK in the early 1970s. Its 2×3 mosaics could appear contiguous, with cells touching, or separated, with background gaps around lit cells. The Japanese primary display set for Sharp MZ home computers also lists this exact 2×2 pattern at display code FB. Unicode later encoded separated forms as distinct characters so teletext emulators and older software could preserve them; some older programs kept these patterns in private-use slots, a range reserved for software-defined characters.

A technical tile for retro computer graphics; it fits a pixel grid better than ordinary prose.

A replacement box means missing glyph support, not a different quadrant pattern.
