What 𑖝 means
It is Siddham’s dental ta, with a short “a” built in. A dental consonant is made with the tongue against the teeth. Siddham writes syllables: a consonant normally carries a short “a”; a vowel sign changes it, and virama removes it.
Siddham grew from Gupta Brahmi. Its North Indian forms, known as Siddhamātrikā and Kuṭila, appear in inscriptions from the 6th to about the 10th century. Siddham is most closely related to Sharada; later Siddham forms are also linked to Nāgarī and Gauḍī, an early form of Bengali writing.
Siddham wrote Sanskrit, including Buddhist texts. As it traveled through Buddhist communities in China, Japan, and Korea, its letters also appeared in mantras, short sacred “seed syllables,” copied sutras, temple images, and amulets. A Sanskrit Heart Sutra and dharani manuscript preserved at Hōryū-ji contains Siddham writing from the 7th–8th century.
What does it mean when someone sends 𑖝?
By itself, it is a letter sample; ritual meaning needs context. In a chart, font test, or transcript, it is the dental consonant. In a Buddhist text, it may be one letter within a mantra or seed syllable. Read the neighboring letters and marks before assigning a specific ritual interpretation.
Why does 𑖝 look different in another font?
The Unicode encoding proposal groups Siddham’s regional forms under one script. Its representative shapes are based on Japanese usage; Japanese formal and brush styles differ, and Korean Siddham can look quite different. A font may display one established style rather than another, but that alone does not change the letter.
Formal and script-focused, with Sanskrit writing and Buddhist ritual associations.
A lone 𑖝 does not identify a mantra, deity, or ritual meaning.

1Why does 𑖝 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
