What ㎗ means
It marks one deciliter in one text cell. A deciliter is one tenth of a liter; dL writes the same measure. The square layout lets it sit evenly among East Asian ideographs.
工学字彙, a Japanese technical dictionary, records デシリットル in 1886; this dates the unit name, not this glyph. The Japanese unit character 竕 and Latin form dℓ also denote a deciliter.
Technical and compatibility-style; dL is the plain notation.
The square changes layout, not the measure.

Questions people ask
1Why does ㎗ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
