What ㎕ means
It means one microliter, packed into one cell. Unicode maps it to Greek μ plus lowercase Latin l, so normalization may undo its one-cell width.
Unicode cites Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and CNS standards for square-unit forms designed to fit one East Asian character cell. A Japanese Pharmacopoeia guideline from July 2025 writes μL.
Technical measurement notation for compact East Asian text.
Mind the prefix: ㎕ is micro; is milli.
Don't confuse it with
2μL Yes: both name the same microliter; μL is ordinary technical notation.
Questions people ask
1Why does ㎕ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
