What 𘢘 means
No: it is a catalogued structural part, not a standalone Tangut word. The Tangut Components catalog names building blocks that scholars use to describe or index full Tangut characters. “Component 153” is only a catalog label; it gives neither a translation nor a spoken reading for 𘢘 by itself.
The Tangut ruler Li Yuanhao ordered the script’s creation in 1036. It helped give the Western Xia state a written identity distinct from Song China and carried a Buddhist canon (a collection of sacred texts), literature, works translated from Chinese into Tangut, and administrative records from the 12th–13th century. Its design drew on Chinese writing and neighboring scripts of the Khitan people, but Tangut is a separate script.
How do I type or read 𘢘?
A Tangut-capable font shows its structural role; Unicode hex input enters it. 𘢘 can appear in an Ideographic Description Sequence, a written notation that describes how a full character is built. Putting it beside another component does not combine them into a new glyph: Tangut has no combining characters.
In a Unicode-aware editor, use hexadecimal code-point input for U18898. “153” is a catalog number, not a sound or keyboard code.
Specialist and archival: suited to Tangut research, character analysis, or a font specimen.
Do not read it as a translated Tangut word.
