What 𗬁 means
It is one written character in Tangut, a distinct historical script.
The Tangut script was promulgated in 1036 for official state writing in Western Xia. It also carried literary and Buddhist texts. After Western Xia fell, Tangut writing continued in later religious and monumental material.
A Tangut dictionary indexes 𗬁 as entry 3098. Structural records identify 𘢍 and 𘦃 as its parts, while a recorded source variant uses 𘧪 in place of 𘦃.
Historical and specialist: its reading depends on the Tangut language and the text around it.
Is 𗬁 Chinese? No. Tangut is a separate writing system; visual resemblance does not give this glyph a Chinese reading.

Questions people ask
2Why is 𗬁 a square?
It can be a font issue. 𗬁 is encoded, but a font without Tangut coverage may show a replacement box; use a font that includes Tangut glyphs.
How is 𗬁 pronounced?
There is no living spoken reading. A preliminary Tangut pronunciation database dated 7 May 2025 writes a reconstruction as “djɨj²” in one transcription system and “deṃ²” in another; these are technical spellings of reconstructed sounds, not a present-day pronunciation guide.
