What 𘚏 means
“Mixed” is a dictionary gloss, not a full translation. Another Tangut index links the glyph to a different entry.
The Sea of Writing, a Tangut dictionary organized by rhyme from the mid-12th century, lists it at 58.211. Tangut writing began around 1036 under Western Xia’s first emperor. The state used it for administration and Buddhist texts and to express an identity distinct from Song China. It remained in use under Yuan and Ming rule and became obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty.
Tangut writing drew on Chinese traditions and developed alongside Khitan scripts, while remaining distinct. A font must cover Tangut to display 𘚏.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘚏 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
