What means
A game-animation tile from the Mattel Aquarius. The Mattel Aquarius character set came with the home computer in 1983. Because it lacked programmable graphics, screen scenes and simple movement had to be assembled from fixed character shapes.
Mattel programmers were consulted about the graphics game makers would need; Mattel Electronics graphic designers Joe Ferreira, Monique Lujan-Bakerink and Peggi Decarli created the expanded set. Here, a frame is one still in an animation. is the robot’s second upper-half pose; its lower tile, , is also the lower part used in the fourth frame of the forward-facing runner.

1Why does show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
