What ᳓ means
A section handoff can happen mid-phrase.
In the Sāmaveda, an ancient Indian scripture, a bhakti is a section of ritual singing assigned to performers. A double danda, two full-height vertical strokes (॥), closes a section; a hyphen marks a phrase ending where pausing is allowed. If a phrase crosses sections, ᳓ marks the next singer’s entry point.
Nihshvasa means “taking a breath” in Sanskrit. The descriptive Sanskrit name vaidika saamagaana yogakaala means “the moment to join Sāmaveda singing.” Grantha and Devanagari texts may draw ᳓ upright or slanted; both are stylistic forms of this sign.

1Why does ᳓ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
