What means
It marks a vertical guide; labels show what its ticks measure.
Sharp released the MZ-700 in November 1982. A 2022 Unicode proposal maps this glyph to slot B6 in the Sharp MZ-700 European alternate display table. Each glyph was drawn in an 88 cell from the computer’s built-in character memory. Keyboard input and screen display used separate tables; software selected alternate glyphs through a bit in video memory, which also held the cell’s colors. Unicode preserves this old screen glyph as a portable text character.

Questions people ask
1Why does show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
