What ꌉ means
It writes one spoken syllable, not a complete translated word.
An inscription—writing carved on a bronze bell—dated 1485 is the oldest surviving Yi example. Village priests passed down local forms of Yi writing for religious rites, fortune-telling, medicine, and family records. Traditional Yi signs can resemble Chinese characters, but appear not to derive from them. Based on older Yi writing, the Liangshan standard was devised in 1974 and made official in 1980 to promote literacy; it is for Liangshan Yi, not every Yi dialect.
