What 𞥖 means
It means six in Adlam. The script was devised in Guinea in 1989 by brothers Abdoulaye and Ibrahima Barry so Fulani speakers could write their language in a script of their own.
Fulani was also written in Arabic and Latin scripts; Adlam grew alongside those established ways of writing the language.
Adlam numbers read right to left, with the highest place-value digit first. In Arabic-script text, numbers are usually written left to right.
Why does the Adlam digit six look different?
The glyph changed in 2019. The revision made the six less similar to the Adlam letter ha, while keeping its numeric value.
