block octant-1236

Block Octant-1236

282/686

𜴟 is a four-cell tile for text graphics: cells 1, 2, 3 and 6 are filled. Kaypro computers used 24 block characters to draw rough images. In terminal art, octants can act as tiny pixels if the font supports them.

What 𜴟 means

It is a Kaypro-style semigraphic tile. The digits identify its four filled cells in a two-column, four-row grid.

Kaypro computers used these blocks to draw without addressing individual screen pixels: software switched small regions of character cells on or off, then joined cells into images and borders. The same octant grid can serve as pseudo-pixels in terminal art.
