Block Octant-12678

457/686

𜷎 is a mosaic tile: a text cell split into two columns and four rows, five of its eight parts filled. On Kaypro computers running CP/M, an early operating system for microcomputers, a 2 4 tile grid drew low-resolution pictures in text mode; Unicode's 2021 proposal records this compatibility use. It shares the mosaic idea of four-part block tiles, but divides a cell into eight smaller parts.

Its appearance depends on the font and text styling.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 𜷎 show as a box on some devices?

It is recent: Unicode added it in version 16.0 (2024), and phones and computers whose fonts are older than that have nothing to draw it with. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
