𜶸 is a semigraphics tile with five of its eight cells filled. Kaypro used this 24 character grid for monochrome graphics by 1984.

Text symbol

What 𜶸 means

Each character cell could stand for eight screen pixels.

On a Kaypro, the matching character was reverse-video byte B1, with its dark and light areas swapped. Kaypro’s 1984 manual describes a 160100 graphics screen. Unicode encoded the pattern so legacy text and emulators could preserve it.
