Block octant-14568

416/686

𜶥 is a mosaic tile for text graphics, with five of its eight small areas filled. Kaypro microcomputers running CP/M, a computer operating system, used 24 octants in text files to draw pictures; the same regular grid also works for terminal art.

What 𜶥 means

Five of the tile’s eight cells are filled. An octant mosaic splits a text cell into two columns and four rows; 14568 names the filled cells. Place neighboring tiles in a monospaced font so their edges align into one picture.

Kaypro microcomputers running CP/M could include octant blocks in text files. The filled and blank parts let programs sketch simple pictures even on displays that could not draw individual pixels directly. The same grid suits terminal art, where each cell can act like a small pixel.
