block octant-2345

Block Octant-2345

𜴖 fills cells 2–5 in a two-column, four-row character tile—the small blocks used for text-mode pictures. The same pattern appears in the Kaypro 10 character set; its 1983 manual explains drawing graphics by setting pixels inside text cells.

What 𜴖 means

Place it beside other block tiles to extend a pixel pattern. The Unicode proposal in 2021 uses “octant” for this eight-part layout, by analogy with “quadrant” (four parts) and “sextant” (six).
