Text symbol

What 𜵯 means

It fills six of eight positions in a two-column, four-row cell. The suffix 234567 names them. A character cell is one text slot; adjacent tiles can join into a pixel picture.

Kaypro drew with text blocks

Kaypro computers running CP/M, an early operating system, used 24 blocks after ASCII, a standard set of English letters and numbers; text files could store them. A documented example from 1984 is SCS-Draw, a Kaypro drawing program that treated each character cell as eight black-or-green pixels. This is semigraphics.

Questions people ask

1

Why do octant tiles show gaps?

They should meet at cell edges. If they do not, extra character spacing is breaking the grid; use a fixed-width font with normal spacing.
