What 🬍 means
It fills the top-right and both middle cells of the six-cell tile.
A sextant is a six-cell mosaic in two columns and three rows. Teletext block graphics and early computer sets used such tiles for pictures inside text rows. UK teletext, a TV information service, took shape in the early 1970s; France’s Minitel, an online service, used the same blocks from the early 1980s to 2012. Unicode grouped patterns from those systems.
Questions people ask
1Why does 🬍 show up as a box?
The selected font or app may not draw it. In a 2026 terminal-support check, some emulators drew these legacy blocks themselves when the font lacked them, so the same character could look different across apps.
