Block Octant-4567

356/686

An octant block pattern fills four named cells in a two-column, four-row tile. These tiles let a text screen assemble simple low-resolution drawings from individual characters; the digits name the filled cells.

What 𜵩 means

A tiny graphics tile inside one text character’s space. That space is split into a 2-by-4 grid; “4567” names the filled cells, and adjacent tiles can extend a drawing.

By 1983, a Kaypro 10 guide documented text-cell graphics: software could set pixels inside each character space. A Unicode proposal in 2022 carried these patterns forward for legacy-data conversion and emulators.

Why does this symbol show as a box?

Usually a font or terminal support issue. As of 2026, many fonts still omit it, and some terminals draw these blocks themselves. Use a display with block-mosaic support.
