What ꬆ means

It marks a syllable in an Ethiopic word.

A 2009 proposal to add the TTH series to Unicode, the computer text standard, shows it in printed Gamo, Gofa, and Dawro editions of Luke’s Gospel. The proposal says encoding the signs would preserve existing books.
