What 🮱 means
Read it as a completed, approved, or affirmative item.
A 2019 Unicode proposal mapped it to slot 45 (hexadecimal) in the Apple II’s inverse-video range and to code FA in PETSCII, Commodore’s character set — 1970s–1980s home computing, when a check could sit light-on-dark in one fixed screen cell.
Apple II manuals from 1985–1989 document MouseText, a graphics mode that swapped part of the inverse-uppercase range for icons — a vintage program can show a different glyph in that slot.
Specialized, retro-technical; it signals a legacy-computing context.
“Inverse” is screen contrast, not rejection.
