Large Type Piece Stem with Left Crossbar

561/686

𜸶 is a stroke fragment for assembling oversized letters, not a whole letter. HP 2640 and 2620 text terminals used pieces like it to display headline-size text inside the screen’s regular rows and columns.

What 𜸶 means

To build enlarged letters from stroke pieces. HP text terminals had this large-type set by 1979; an HP 2624A terminal manual illustrates it in 1980. Programs joined the pieces in ordinary text cells, making headline letters large without stretching a whole line.

Will a terminal emulator display this correctly?

Not reliably. As of 2026, a compatibility check lists 0% support for this group in all five terminal emulators it tracks. The text may remain intact even when the intended drawing is missing.
