What ⭂ means
Read it as an approximate relation pointing left. An approximate relation connects things that are nearly equal or otherwise approximate one another. Here the arrow adds a direction to that relationship. “Reverse” describes the shape of the almost-equal sign; it does not mean “not equal.”
The arrow and the wavy strokes form one character. A Unicode proposal in 2006 included it among mathematical arrows needing counterparts that point the other way.
Text running from right to left does not automatically reverse this arrow. When writing mathematics, choose the character that points in the required direction.
Specialist mathematical notation: both the waves and the arrow matter.

1Questions people ask
1Why does ⭂ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Miscellaneous Symbols and Arrows block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
