What 𝚝 means
It is a math-style Latin t, one of many mathematical letter forms.
A variable is a letter that stands for a quantity. In a formula, different letter styles can mark different variables; the surrounding notation tells you which quantity this t represents.
The mathematical alphabets give these styles separate text characters, so formulas can preserve the distinction in plain text as well as in mathematical markup. Monospace describes the style, not a universal value for t.
Why does monospace t turn into plain t?
Compatibility normalization can map it to ordinary Latin t.
Some text systems apply compatibility normalization, which folds mathematical letter styles back to their basic Latin letters. That can make the styled form disappear from a search or remove a distinction a formula depends on.

1Why does 𝚝 show up as a box?
The selected font may not include this glyph. MathJax 4, a web tool for displaying equations, tries other fonts when a glyph is missing; another app may use a different fallback or show a box.
