This letter writes Bhumij
Mahendra Nath Sardar developed Ol Onal from 1981–1992 to write Bhumij, a language spoken in eastern India. In 1992, the Odisha Bhumij organization Adim Bhumij Samaj chose it in a contest among three scripts.
The design began with uppercase Ol Onal and lowercase Galang Onal, but teaching and print used uppercase; the lowercase set fell out of use. By 2022, examples also included ritual writing, wedding invitations and public notices.
