What ⸙ means
Use a Unicode input method. In Microsoft Office, type 2E19 and press Alt+X; in GTK text fields, press Ctrl+Shift+U, type 2e19, then press Enter.
For HTML, use ⸙ to encode this word separator. A missing or different drawing is a font-support issue, not a new character.
What does ⸙ mean?
It marks a boundary in Roman inscriptions. In the Roman imperial period, inscriptions and coins used the branch-shaped ramulus, also called palmula. It could separate words like an interpunct, a centered dot used between words, or mark the break between neighboring inscriptions. It could sit beside interpuncts, so it was a distinct separator rather than a decorative dot.
In ancient and Christian art, real palm branches could signal victory and religious triumph. That emblematic reading belongs to the branch itself; it does not change ⸙'s documented punctuation role.
Historical and specialist: its documented use is as a separator in Roman inscriptions.
