What ꢳ means
It is a consonant letter in the Saurashtra script.
ꢳ is transliterated “lla.” Consonants carry a built-in vowel; a vowel sign changes it, and virama removes it.
Saurashtra is a South Indian language; its script is part of the Brahmic family of South Asian scripts, though its exact origin is uncertain as of 2026. The modern form developed in the late 1800s for Saurashtra books. An 1880 account describes it; another form is documented in 1890–1908. Saurashtra has also been written in Tamil, Telugu, and Devanagari; an interwar resolution favored Devanagari. A 2003 proposal for Saurashtra in Unicode (the computer-text standard) noted rare use in a Madurai magazine. Using ꢳ selects the dedicated Saurashtra script.
