separated block quadrant-134

Separated Block Quadrant 134

This is a tiny mosaic tile: three of its four quarters are filled, with narrow gaps between them. It belongs to the graphics characters used on Japanese Sharp MZ home computers to make rough pictures in a text grid. The solid shape ▙ has the same pattern without the gaps.

What 𜰭 means

A four-part screen tile with three filled quarters. In semigraphics, text cells act as chunky pixels for building a picture. This tile divides one cell into four quarters: the upper-left, lower-left, and lower-right are filled; the upper-right is open.

The 2021 Unicode proposal’s source table maps this tile to byte FD in the primary Japanese display set for Sharp MZ computers. Programs arranged graphic characters in rows and columns, making coarse images on a character screen.
