separated block sextant-24

Separated Block Sextant-24

𜹚 is a tile from teletext mosaic graphics, with no fixed subject on its own. Teletext put such character-sized patches together to draw low-resolution pictures, and this one keeps narrow background gaps between its lit parts.

What 𜹚 means

Two of the six small cells are lit. The 2×3 tile marks positions 2 and 4; this pattern supplies a patch for larger graphics.

Teletext began in the United Kingdom in the early 1970s, carrying information pages and simple pictures to television sets. Its mosaic cells could touch or appear with thin background-colored gutters. Separate characters were later encoded so teletext emulators and existing software could preserve the gapped style as text.

Why does 𜹚 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
