Its suffix identifies active cells 3, 4, and 5.

A sextant is a two-column, three-row tile. Here, cells 3 and 4 fill the middle row, and 5 fills the lower-left cell. Neighboring tiles join into a larger low-resolution picture.

UK teletext began in the early 1970s, sending text and simple graphics to TVs. Its mosaics could have touching or separated cells. In 2021, a Unicode proposal said emulators needed the gaps and older software already used custom character slots in a private-use range, reserved for locally chosen characters. Unicode 16.0 added this character in 2024.

Why does 𜹬 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
