What 𘪊 means
It labels a piece used to analyze complete Tangut characters. Tangut components are structural pieces used to sort and analyze whole characters. This one is a label for a piece, not a standalone word. Any sound or meaning link depends on the complete character being analyzed.
Tangut writing was introduced for the Tangut language in 1036. The Sea of Characters, a rhyming dictionary from the mid-12th century, explained complex characters by breaking them into components drawn from other characters. A piece could point to meaning or sound in a particular whole character, but that link did not become the component’s own reading.
Why does 𘪊 look different in old fonts?
Its reference drawing was corrected in 2019. The correction gives U18A8A seven strokes instead of the earlier eight. A font or scan based on an older reference may retain the old drawing, so compare the character code when the shape disagrees.
Which Tangut characters use this component?
Two Tangut characters are documented with this component. The complete characters 𗪇 and 𘜂 are analyzed with Component 651. 𗪇 is glossed “to sink,” and 𘜂 “deep black”; these are meanings of the whole characters, not readings of 𘪊.
A specialist mark for Tangut character analysis, Unicode reference work, and font work; it does not read like an everyday message.
“To sink” and “deep black” gloss the complete characters that use this component, not 𘪊 alone.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘪊 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
