What ⛃ means
It marks the black piece crowned as a king. A piece is crowned when it reaches the far edge.
In the 2025 English draughts rules, kings move one diagonal square either way and can jump to capture in either direction; International draughts lets them slide along several diagonal squares.
Where did draughts come from?
Modern draughts is linked to alquerque, an older capture game played on a chessboard. A commonly cited account places its development near the French-Spanish border in the 12th century; a Spanish draughts book appeared in 1547, and the earliest dedicated English-language manual dates to 1756.

3Questions people ask
1Why does ⛃ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
