What ⛀ means
It marks a round playing piece in draughts. Alone, it can stand for the game; a row can sketch a board position.
Origins are disputed. One account names Alquerque, a grid game of captures, as a likely ancestor and places draughts on an 88 chessboard in the 12th century. By the 1600s, checkers had a strategy book in print. Pieces have been made from stone, corncob, wood and plastic.
