What 🬓 means
The suffix names the filled parts of a six-cell tile.
Cell 3 is middle-left; cell 5 is bottom-left. “Sextant” describes a mosaic divided into six parts.
Teletext, a UK TV information service developed in the early 1970s, used block mosaics for graphics; TRS-80 characters used the same grid. A 2017 Unicode proposal mapped the sextant set to both systems to preserve old character data and support emulators; its role stayed visual.
Can these tiles make a picture?
Yes; align tiles in a text grid to make a blocky picture.
Teletext mosaics could touch or leave narrow gaps. For text art, use a monospaced font; proportional spacing can break alignment.
Questions people ask
1Why does 🬓 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
