Down-Pointing Frog

𜷼 is a down-facing frog graphic from the Mattel Aquarius home computer. Games used the system’s fixed character tiles to build pictures; the better-documented up-facing sibling was the player in an Aquarius Frogger port.

What 𜷼 means

It came from the Mattel Aquarius graphics set. The Aquarius used fixed character tiles for text and pictures; games arranged them into scenes.

A 2021 Unicode proposal included the Aquarius set to preserve character data for conversion and emulators. A screenshot of 1983 Phrogger shows the up-facing sibling as its player frog. Frogger is the arcade game about guiding a frog across traffic and a river.
