What 𘭉 means
Its label is an identifier, not a translation.
Khitan Small Script has logograms (word signs) and phonograms (sound signs). Sound signs usually join into word groups; word signs can stand alone. Inscription context gives this glyph its role.
How did Khitan Small Script develop?
It was created around 925 to write Khitan.
Yelü Diela, brother of the Liao emperor, developed it from Chinese forms; scholars link its sound system to the Uyghur script. It served under the Liao dynasty, Western Liao (Qara Khitai) and Jin rule until Jin rulers banned it in 1191. Tomb inscriptions preserve examples; neighboring Jurchen peoples later modeled their scripts on Khitan writing.
Unicode 18.0's reference glyph for 𘭉 has angled legs reflecting a Jurchen Small Script form; that describes shape, not reading.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘭉 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
