What 𘰶 means
It is a character in Khitan small script, not a translated word.
Khitan small script mixes word signs with sound signs, which often join in clusters. Text around a sign can show its role.
The script ran vertically; horizontal display may show individual glyphs without their original layout.
When was Khitan small script made?
Tradition dates its creation to around 925.
Yelü Diela, the Liao founder’s younger brother, is credited with devising it to write Khitan. Its forms draw on Chinese characters and reportedly on Uyghur writing, though the scripts look little alike.
A 2026 study argues it became standard later; surviving dated inscriptions begin in the 1050s. It continued under Western Liao and Jin rule. Jurchen writing later drew on both Khitan scripts; most surviving texts are tomb inscriptions.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘰶 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
