What 𘰺 means
In some scholarly reconstructions, 𘰺 writes the sound “t.”
One Khitan word written 𘰺𘯟 means “flag”; scholars transcribe its reading as t.uh or tuğ, with 𘰺 supplying the opening “t.” The same sign can mark a plural ending, so read it within the word rather than translating it alone.
Khitan Small Script was developed to write the Khitan language of northern China, especially longer words and grammatical endings. Its creation is traditionally dated to around 925 and credited to Yelü Diela; the earliest known surviving inscription in the script is a 1053 tomb text for the noble Yelü Zongjiao. The script combined sound signs with signs for whole words. Some signs came from Khitan Large Script, and its design was said to draw inspiration from Uyghur writing. It was used under Liao, Western Liao, and Jin rule; the Jin-era Jurchen scripts drew on Khitan models.

Questions people ask
1Why does Khitan text break into blocks?
Because several sound signs usually join as one word-sized group. Showing 𘰺 alone only proves the font can draw one sign; displaying full Khitan words also needs software that knows how to arrange those groups.
