What 𘱵 means
It stands for the whole Khitan word ordu.
A logogram is a sign for a full word, not just one sound.
What was Khitan Small Script made to do?
It wrote Khitan beside the separate Khitan Large Script.
Tradition credits Yelü Diela, dates the script around 925 CE, and reports Uyghur script inspiration despite few visual similarities. One 2026 reassessment argues wider use came later; the 1051 Wugulin Taishi epitaph is the earliest securely dated survivor. Old Turkic ordu appears in the 732 Köl Tegin inscription; Mongolian has a related ordu for “palace” or “camp.” This sign also represents udu in udu-wur; -wur means “court-related.” Some inscriptions tentatively identified as Jurchen Small Script group signs similarly.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘱵 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
