What means
It was a game sprite in Sharp’s European MZ-700 set. The MZ-700 line began in 1982. Its European version built game scenes from ready-made characters placed in screen cells. This tank sat at F9 in the second set; programs selected it with a screen-memory setting, not a keyboard key. The Japanese version used its second set for hiragana.
In 2021, Unicode, the shared standard for computer text, mapped the sprite so old character data could be converted and restored with the picture intact.

1Questions people ask
1Why does show as a box on some devices?
It is recent: Unicode added it in version 16.0 (2024), and phones and computers whose fonts are older than that have nothing to draw it with. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
