right-pointing tank

Right-Pointing Tank

The tank symbol 𜲟 depicts a small tank facing right, from the Sharp MZ-700’s European alternate set—the computer’s second built-in collection of screen characters. It served as a ready-made image for blocky scenes; Unicode preserves it as a standalone text symbol.

What 𜲟 means

It was a ready-made screen graphic on the Sharp MZ-700.

In 1983, a British magazine listed MZ-700 tank sprites among the computer’s built-in game-picture shapes. This one came from the European alternate display set. It was not directly typeable; a BASIC program used POKE—a command that writes to memory—to show it.
