What 𑱰 means
It starts text or a folio; it does not end a sentence.
A folio is a written leaf or page. This Marchen punctuation mark sits at the start of a folio, heading, or opening paragraph. The Tibetan initial head mark, yig-mgo, serves the same opening function in Tibetan writing; Marchen uses a separate mark, the shad, to end sentences.
What does 𑱰 mean when someone sends it?
Read it as a Marchen or Bön writing reference, not a reaction.
A standalone send is safest read as pointing to the script, its opening punctuation, or Bön writing. If the religious context matters, ask what the sender intends.
Why does 𑱰 look like a swastika?
It uses a left-facing svasti form associated with Bön.
Marchen's traditional origin account places it in Zhang-zhung, an ancient kingdom, before Buddhism reached Tibet in the seventh century. A Unicode proposal from 2013 says no early Marchen texts were then known, points to a bronze seal at Menri Monastery as one of the earliest examples, and suggests the script itself may have arisen much later.
Later use includes Bön literature and inscriptions on buildings. The same left-facing svasti design also serves as Marchen letter nya; when it belongs to a word it is a letter, while 𑱰 opens text.
Specialist, historical, and religiously marked: it signals knowledge of Marchen or Bön writing, not casual decoration.
Without context, a reader may recognize the svasti shape but miss its Marchen or Bön writing reference.

1Why can 𑱰 look different in different fonts?
Unicode's chart glyph is a reference, not a required design. A proposal from 2013 describes thick-angular and thin-rounded Marchen calligraphic styles, so fonts that support the script can show different forms.
